We the People is a blog series that features the stories of members, supporters, volunteers, and allies of the American Civil Liberties Union of South Dakota. Together we are accomplishing critical work in our state to protect and advance civil liberties across the midwest and beyond.
Braden Bradfield is a business owner, passionate advocate for civil liberties, and the 2018 Cheers to Liberty emcee. He currently owns and operates Revolution Yoga and Cycle in Sioux Falls with the assistance of his lovely companion, Henry, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a Sioux Falls native that enjoys being involved in various parts of our community. I've lived in New York City, but now officially call South Dakota home. In addition to instructing yoga and managing Revoltion Yoga & Cyle, I am a chemistry and biology teacher at Roosevelt High School. With my spare time, I hang out with my 3 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Henry.
Why are you proud to support the ACLU of South Dakota?
I love what the American Civil Liberties Union stands for and I appreciate all of their hard work and dedication to protecting civil liberties for every single South Dakotan.
How does the ACLU and our work relate to you personally? Are there any issues you feel most connected to?
As a gay man, who came out over ten years ago; it is important to me that my rights are protected. The American Civil Liberties Union has been at the forefront of defending my rights. I truly admire their dedication and determination even in the face of what may seem like a losing battle.
What can people expect at Cheers to Liberty 2018?
Attendees of Cheers to Liberty 2018 should expect a sense of unity and determination while being surrounded by new friends. Perhaps some impromptu yoga. We'll see.
The ACLU of South Dakota loves our civil liberties watchdogs. Tell us about your dog.
Henry, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, spends his days napping, cuddling and tending to the laundry at Revolution. He is is a loyal companion and loves without hesitation.
