For years, South Dakota lawmakers have introduced bills targeting trans people and their families that try to completely erase them from the public eye. All while ignoring real issues facing our state.
Enough is enough! It’s time to fight back and remind lawmakers why they’re sent to Pierre each year. We want solutions, not culture wars.
Join the Clay County Democrats, Spectrum, and the ACLU of South Dakota for a collaborative letter writing party in support of trans rights.

Sample Letter
Feel free to use the language below as a model to write your own.
Dear legislator,
My name is Bob, and I’m a resident of your district. I’m writing to ask you to please oppose any bills that target trans kids and their families. I want every South Dakotan to feel safe and welcomed in this state, bills like [insert bill here] do the opposite of that. Don’t we all deserve to feel respected? I think we do. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Bob
