Know Your Rights: Protesting and Demanding Justice

June 30, 2020 @ 7:00 pm
July 1, 2020 @ 7:45 pm

You might be demanding justice for George Floyd, Tony McDade, Breonna Taylor, and all of the Black people who have been killed by racist police brutality.

You might be fighting alongside water protectors against the construction of the KXL pipeline that, if built, could seriously affect the environment for generations to come.

Or you might be protesting President Trump’s policies during his planned visit to the Black Hills for the July 3rd fireworks display at Mount Rushmore.

Activists like you are taking to the streets to express their opinions, their outrage, and their demands for change – and the First Amendment protects your right to assemble and express your views through protest. However, police and other government officials are allowed to place certain narrow restrictions on the exercise of speech rights. Make sure you’re prepared by brushing up on your rights before heading out into the streets.

Join us at 6 p.m. MT / 7 p.m. CT on June 30, 2020 to learn more about your rights while protesting and actionable steps to take if you experience or witness police misconduct.
